Company with brief description Nationwide Children's Hospital. Ranked in all 10 specialities in U.S. News Media Group's 2011-2012 Best Children's Hospitals. Nationwide Children's Hospital is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric healthcare networks providing wellness, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative care for infants, children, adolescents and adult patients with congenital disease. Nationwide Children’s remains true to the original mission since its founding in 1892 of providing care regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Current Position with brief role description As Senior Marketing Strategist Tradeshows/Events within the Marketing & Public Relations Department, I have the privilege of coordinating the hospital's marketing efforts with regard to our exhibit and tradeshow presence at national pediatric conferences and local community events. From small table top displays to 20'x20' tradeshow exhibits, my role is dedicated to identifying appropriate events, establishing strategic goals, coordinating logistics, along with measurement and reporting of results. How long have you been a member of ISES Columbus? I became a member in February of 2005 and quickly understood the value of ISES and its critical role in my career growth; attending every meeting possible. What (or Who) made you seek a position on the Board? At the encouragement of a Past President, Diane Sharp, I attended the second half of the Board's two-day retreat in 2006. It was an opportunity to get an inside look at how ISES Columbus functions as an association. After actively serving on the Communications Committee, I was elected to a Director-at-large postion on the 2007- 2008 Board. The following year, I was elected to the role of VP of Communications, and then two terms as President-Elect. As my involvement with ISES continues to evolve, I found that having access to the expertise of fellow members is the driving force behind the success of professional development. Give one piece of advice/ encouragement to non-members on why they should join ISES Columbus- or an unexpected benefit to being a member As a direct result of my involvement in ISES Columbus, I have been able to expand and fine tune a variety of skills. Active participation at the board and committee level has aforded me hands-on access to learning about website design and online registration systems, as well as association leadership and management, to name a few. More importantly, the opportunity to work as a team with professionals that represent so many different disciplines within the Special Events industry has directly enhanced my value to the Marketing & Public Relations team at Nationwide Children's. My favorite aspect of ISES is the constant encouragement and respect that the members demonstrate. There is always a willingness to support a colleague or competitor and share best practice tips that ultimately raise the level of excellence within the events and event-related industry.
